Backflow prevention testing service

Have you received a notice from the council to test your backflow prevention device? Our expert backflow testers can complete the backflow testing and submit the report to the local council on your behalf.

Backflow prevention devices require an annual inspection. Any fault in the RPZ or DC valve can reduce the water pressure flow, and pollute the drinking water which can result in being penalised by your local council. Get your backflow prevention devices tested by Ryan Old Plumbing’s fully qualified and endorsed backflow plumbers. Book our expert backflow testers now.

What are Backflow Prevention Devices?

Backflow devices prevent harmful contaminants from entering the city’s main water supply. If back-siphonage or back-pressure occurs, it can pollute the potable drinking water and cause local residents to fall sick.

Double check backflow device (DC) and Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow device (RPZ) are commonly used to prevent backflow. At Ryan Old Plumbing, we install, test and maintain DC valves and RPZ backflow preventers. RPZ valves are installed in high-risk areas whereas DC backflow preventers are installed in low-risk areas. Your backflow prevention device will be installed in accordance with the hazard rating of the property.

Where are Backflow Prevention Devices needed?

They need to be fitted in properties which can contaminate mains water supply like:

  • Irrigation system connected to mains water supply
  • Fire hose reels or hydrants
  • Commercial businesses like chemical manufacturing plants, funeral homes, car wash companies, hospitals
  • Underground rainwater tank
  • Water outlets nearby sources of pollutants, chemicals or grease traps
  • Swimming Pools
  • Motels, Hotels and Units
  • Shops
  • Restaurants
  • Dry cleaners, Laundries
  • Schools and Day Care Centres
  • Caravan Parks
  • Air Conditioning Towers

Plumber FAQ

How to fix a leaking tap?

Leaving a leaking tap unfixed is super easy to do – you hear it, you complain about it and it wakes you up at 3 am. You then say a few select words and then likely go back to sleep again until it wakes you up the next night.

That is why now is the best time to fix your leaking tap! Whether you choose to complete the job yourself or call in the professionals, you will be more than glad when that pesky tap isn’t leaking anymore. Although fixing a tap yourself can be a simple task if you know what you are doing, it can become messy, difficult and expensive if it isn’t done right. This is definitely something to consider when you are looking at fixing your tap.

What is considered a plumbing emergency?

Although a leaking tap is not a serious emergency, it could be. Extreme plumbing emergencies include those that damage or threaten lives (gas problems, water leaks) - especially when adverse health effects are already being felt. Other critical situations include sewer leaks, major flooding and burst pipe.

Whatever plumbing problems you may have, as long as they greatly impact you, we will treat it as an emergency and will fix the issue ASAP.
